It’s just over a week before House of the Dragon is set to premiere on HBO, and the build up lies in a cloud of anticipation. With the way Game of Thrones finished, no one is quite sure which way the tables will turn for the prequel, set 200 years prior. To put it simply, co-showrunner Miguel Sapochnik puts the reins in the hands of four characters: “There’s the king, his brother, the king’s daughter and her best friend. Then the best friend becomes the king’s wife and thereby the queen.” The gore, scandal, and sex to follow from this will only be as explicit and incestuous as we expect, however can they strike the fine balance of unleashing all this darkness whilst retaining an intricate and delicate narrative…
