Irina is a native Russian speaker with over 15 years of experience as a translator and localisator, language and literature tutor, and dialect coach.
Originally from Russia and now based in the UK for almost a decade, she brings a rare depth of understanding to the Russian language – shaped not only by academic study and professional experience but by a lived connection to both Russian and British cultures. This dual perspective allows her to bridge cultural gaps with precision, empathy, and nuance.
Trained as a linguist, Irina discovered her true passion in teaching language and literature — where knowledge meets connection, and words come alive through people. Her background is rooted in literature, and she’s endlessly fascinated by how meaning is shaped through tone, rhythm, subtext, and cultural context.
She also has an expert command of Russian phonetics, with in-depth knowledge of pronunciation, stress, and intonation. This makes her especially skilled at helping learners and performers alike sound natural and confident in Russian, down to the finest detail.
Irina teaches Russian as a foreign language to people of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels — always tailoring her approach to the individual and their goals.
Since 2019, she has also supported actors in bringing Russian dialogue to life on screen and stage. Her work includes pronunciation coaching, script translation, cultural consultancy, and localisation — ensuring that performances feel both natural and culturally authentic.
Her projects include Black Widow, Napoleon, and Kraven the Hunter.
