Areas of Expertise: Voice, Accent, Acting
I trained as an actress in the early 1980s and worked extensively in theatre and television including two years at the Royal National Theatre of Great Britain.
In the early '90s I trained as a Voice and Dialect coach at the Central School of Speech and Drama and since then have worked mainly in international films and television where my understanding of the acting process has enabled me to work creatively with actors to discover their authentic potential when using dialect and accent so that it becomes totally embedded into their character, text and performance.
Artistic truth and creative reality, together with a sense of enjoyment and fun are the bedrock from which I work with each individual. I believe that an actor must have an easy confidence devoid of fear and I work with a light but very specific touch ensuring the actor is facilitated to do their job with enthusiasm and a profound sense of truth and belief.
Having worked with directors as diverse as Werner Herzog, Ridley Scott and Gillian Armstrong and the composer John Adams I am adaptable to differing working methods and timeframes and I am very happy working with a variety of personalities and also with children and young people.
Other specialities include ADR, corporate and confidence building work, sexual identity especially with the transsexual voice, text and script work (Classical and contemporary), presentation and public speaking, broadcasting and commentary.
